Production Blog Post 4

For my film essay for production, I decided to cut down on some of the information that I was put into the project since the musical was going to pick up practice again. I only kept the musical genres and instead of also doing movie genres since I felt those were self-explanatory. I felt like I was going to feel rushed and I wanted to take my time with it and feel good about the final product. I think I am also going to also go to cut down on some of the examples to make it easier. Since practice for the musical starts up this weekend I wanted to make sure that I finished up the final touches on my script and finalized the playlist of all the clips I need. In the video, some of them are really long, but I of course plan on keeping them shorter, so I can edit everything easier. I should be able to get all of the editing done in time. My goal is to not rush editing, that’s why I decided to cut the information down. Here is the link in case it doesn't work within the blog:   https://y...

Introduction: This week’s blog post is about the comedy genre. I don’t think I’ve done this genre before, and my brother Charlie loves comedy movies. He is obsessed with Adam Sandler and has seen a lot of his movies. Think his obsession with comedy (and Adam Sandler) really started with the movie Big Daddy . He would watch it for a few days in a row. Comedy is really a fun genre of movies and it’s great for big laughs and any type of comedy. Types of comedy are slapstick, parody, spoof, satire, irony, sarcasm, farce, dark comedy, and surrealism. Comedy can be done in a lot of different ways and sometimes can be funny or sometimes fail to make people laugh. There’s a lot that makes a comedy, a comedy.  Inspirations: I think that Charlie was my definite inspiration for this blog post so in honor of him. I decided to find a list of the top 10 comedies. Here is the list: https://www.themanual.com/culture/best-comedy-movies-of-all-time/ A Night at the Opera Blues Brothers Monty Python...

Introduction: This week’s blog post is about the story of Cinderella. It’s not really a film topic or genre, but I decided in honor of our performance of Cinderella this week I would discuss the many version of cinderella. I may not get to all of them but I will do my best. The story of cinderella is one of the most classic fairytales and is probably the most known from Disney and the newest version of the musical. The cinderella movie that was notable for me as a kid, other than the Disney movie and the sequels, was the 1965 movie version. The story of cinderella can be modern-day struggles and problems and doest have to be the classic story but can follow the same tropes and ideas. I decided to start by looking up all stories based on Cinderella and the actual Cinderella story itself. Inspiration: Here is the link (I did the top 10): https://www.ranker.com/list/the-best-cinderella-movies/ranker-film   Cinderella (2015) The Princess Diaries  The Princess Diaries 2: Royal En...

For my last film this year, I decided to make a film essay. I liked what Aaron decided to do so I thought I’d give it a try. I decided to do my film essay on the musical genres and film musicals. Since our performance for Cinderella is coming up next week I thought it would be a fun thing to work on something having to do with musicals. I mostly did the research funny enough at free times I had at practice. I thought it would be motivation for me to get my script done. I am worried about finding all the necessary clips I need, but that can easily be fixed with fewer examples. Below I have the introduction to the film essay introducing the topics. Above I then have my storyboard as an outline for how I will structure my video. I will be discussing the musical genre and then musicals in film.

Introduction: It’s been a while since we did an investigation blog post so it took me a bit to figure out what to do. The topic I decided on doing is looking at some of the most popular genres in cinema in the world today. The top three are; Adventure, Action, and Drama. It’s interesting because I was expecting horror and comedy to be one of the top three along with action movies. Here is the link I found (https://www.statista.com/statistics/188658/movie-genres-in-north-america-by-box-office-revenue-since-1995/). Since a lot of people haven’t been able to go to the movies online streaming platforms have been getting a lot more attention and can lead to more film genres being explored than others. These films do make sense I feel since this is content more people have been watching especially in Action with things like Marvel’s WandaVison and Falcon and The Winter Soldier coming out on Disney+.  Inspirations: For this, I decided to look up the top few movies in each section (for ...

Overall this film was pretty fun to make, although it was very hectic. We filmed it all in a day and we went to the park for a couple of hours and filmed then went back to my cousin’s house and filmed the rest. I do think our acting really improved and I really liked Mikaylas acting in this film. I think they fill their role really well along with my cousin Natalie. I wrote their roles to fit their personalities since I knew they would be acting in them. Although I do think some of the lines are awkward and sometimes don’t make sense I do think we did well with what we had. It was also really nice too that we were able to get more shots and since it was a nice day out we got a lot done. There were a few goofs like with Mikayla’s glasses being on and then off, but I guess that’s somewhat explainable. Then you also have me wearing two different sweatshirts or shirts in some scenes where it doesn't make sense, but it’s not the end of the world. I’m surprised how much we got done in a ...

End of MP 3 Presentations Reflection

After looking at and hearing all my classmates talk about their work for the second marking period, it's giving me ideas and inspiration for future projects. The first person that inspired me was Aaron. I really liked the idea of doing a film study instead of doing an actual film with actors. It's also a very interesting theme of Dada, which I’d never heard of before his presentation. I liked the way that Aaron also embraced this chaotic theme or editing and just in general. I learned that not everything has to be necessarily perfect and in a set style. I will also keep in mind doing a film study instead of a film since sometimes making a film is too much. I liked the themes of expressionism and I'll definitely incorporate that into my work too. I also like how he talked about the differences between subjective and objective films and metamodern. Overall I really liked the themes Aaron chose to go with and the choice to do a video. I will definitely take inspiration from th...
