Introduction: This week’s blog post is about the story of Cinderella. It’s not really a film topic or genre, but I decided in honor of our performance of Cinderella this week I would discuss the many version of cinderella. I may not get to all of them but I will do my best. The story of cinderella is one of the most classic fairytales and is probably the most known from Disney and the newest version of the musical. The cinderella movie that was notable for me as a kid, other than the Disney movie and the sequels, was the 1965 movie version. The story of cinderella can be modern-day struggles and problems and doest have to be the classic story but can follow the same tropes and ideas. I decided to start by looking up all stories based on Cinderella and the actual Cinderella story itself.

Brainstorming/Experimentation: Unfortunately the musical was rescheduled for May, but I will still talk about these movies. The top ten movies on this list are very similar to the story of cinderella and are the story of Cinderella. The story of cinderella was very classic and the many different stories of all are different and all tell it in different ways. Movies like The Princess Diaries are a completely new story, but they still do take elements from the original story. Some of these movies are also the actual classic story themselves, but they still do put their www elements in it. The story of Cinderella usually starts with a woman that is stuck in a situation or wants to be something more and then gets an opportunity when a fairy godmother or someone like that helps her. She then gets this opportunity to change and she becomes who she wants to be. I would definitely make a cinderella story if I could sense the story is a really amazing one and could have a lot of potential for new stories with it.


Reflection: Overall Cinderella is an amazing story and I can’t wait for our performance of Cinderella. Most of these movies are actually from Disney and are on Disney+. We already do know that Disney really likes princess stories and it’s not surprising how it’ll have the stories of the princes in more modern stories as well. I really do like how there are more modern movies and also how the musical element of Cinderella is used as well. My favorite movie in the top three is probably Ella Enchanted since that is the movie I really remember the most from my childhood. All of these movies are very creative and fun and I really do like all these stories although I haven’t seen them all. Overall, this blog post didn’t end up being for the musical this week, but it is still really fun to look at different movie adaptions of the story.

Work Log: Since I thought our perefomace of Cinderella was supposed to be this week I didnt get much done, but my goal is to gather all the clips I need for the film study between the rest of this week and the following week.

Hugo Reflection Questions

In Hugo, Georges Méliès, who does not want to remember the part of his life where he created fantastic and magical worlds through films, states, “My life has taught me one lesson, Hugo Cabret, and not the one I thought it would. Happy endings only happen in the movies.” Why does Méliès say this? He says this because in his films he’s been able to live a fantasy life and love out his dreams, but in real life he is stuck in one place. He feels like he’s accomplished something so great but he’s not able to feel like what he did doesn't get him an own happy ending. Pre-Production Blog Post 4

  For my last film this year, I decided to make a film essay. I liked what Aaron decided to do so I thought I’d give it a try. I decided to do my film essay on the musical genres and film musicals. Since our performance for Cinderella is coming up next week I thought it would be a fun thing to work on something having to do with musicals. I mostly did the research funny enough at free times I had at practice. I thought it would be motivation for me to get my script done. I am worried about finding all the necessary clips I need, but that can easily be fixed with fewer examples. Below I have the introduction to the film essay introducing the topics. Above I then have my storyboard as an outline for how I will structure my video. I will be discussing the musical genre and then musicals in film.
