Other types of Pollution for Environmental science

Light Pollution:

Here is a good source to see how to prevent/stop light pollution: https://coreglow.ca/news/5-ways-to-reduce-light-pollution-core-glow-with-the-international-darksky-association/

Sources of light Pollution: Street lights, cars, office buildings, advertising.
The inappropriate or excessive use of artificial light – known as light pollution – can have serious environmental consequences for humans, wildlife, and our climate. Components of light pollution include:
  • Glare – excessive brightness that causes visual discomfort
  • Skyglow – brightening of the night sky over inhabited areas
  • Light trespass – light falling where it is not intended or needed
  • Clutter – bright, confusing and excessive groupings of light source

The effects:
Human health- Disruption of the sleep process which had many health consequences
Environmental- Disruption of circadian rhythms, inability to hunt, disruption of mating, disruption of migration and navigation.
Light pollution is excessive, misdirected, or obtrusive artificial (usually outdoor)light. Too much light pollution has consequences: it washes out starlight in the night sky, interferes with astronomical research, disrupts ecosystems, has adverse health effects and wastes energy.
