Introduction: This week's blog post is about McCarthyism and its influence on the films that came out of Hollywood during that time. McCarthyism is a vociferous campaign against alleged communists in the US government and other institutions carried out under Senator Joseph McCarthy in the period 1950–54. Many of the accused were blacklisted or lost their jobs, although most didn’t belong to the Communist Party. This campaign is what brought us the play The Crucible , comparing the Salem Witch Trials to these events. This campaign had a big impact on films at the time since filmmakers were under a lot of pressure from this group to make sure that the movies didn’t hold any communist view or anything like that. A lot of people, in general, were impacted by this campaign especially those involved in art and film since they were in charge of America’s entertainment. Inspiration: I decided to look up films impacted by McCarthyism and films based on the campaign. The way we were Jul...

This film is a special one, my cousin had this really fun idea during our filming of our last film, and we decided to make a film based on the idea. I finished the script and then added the last few finishing touches. I also completed the storyboard for the film. My goal is to do the costumes and make a schedule for filming. The idea was about a trio of serial killers. We didn’t know what it was really about so I just went off a few ideas we had and made a script. Now we are going to not make it graphic in any way so it is school-appropriate. It’s mostly going to focus on the characters' relationships and their stories. My cousin Mikayla is going to be Sally. My other cousin Natalie is going to be Rachel. And then I’m going to be Alice. This film is, I think, going to be the most interesting film I’ve made yet. I can’t wait to see how it goes. The trio in the film is called the sisterhood. We thought it would be a good name since Mikayla and Natalie are sisters and I'm basicall...

Introduction: This week’s blog post is about: Neorealism and its origins in European Cinema. I was looking at film topics and I thought It would be fun to look back at film theory and neo-realism. Neorealism, also known as structural realism, is a theory of international relations that says power is the most important factor in international relations. Neorealism and realism are also two different topics. Classical realism places emphasis on human and domestic factors and neorealism focuses on the structure of the international system that determines state behavior. Neorealism became famous in 1947 with Roberto Rossellini's Rome, Open City , when it won the Grand Prize at the Cannes Film Festival as the first major film produced in Italy after the war. The film and art style isn’t seen much around anymore with the trend really ending in 1952. Inspiration: For this, I decided to look at films produced with this style.   Introduction: This weeks blog post is about film reviews and test audiences, a film/movie review is the analysis of the film made by one person, or collectively expressing the opinion on the movie. A test audience is a group of people who preview screening of a movie or television show before its general release to gauge audience reaction. This often will then influence how the movie is received and viewed. These reviews also help give insight to how the movie is made and done. To know you have a good movie, you honestly have to have good and bad reviews. Its good to see and know how people review your movie and what they think of them. A lot of the time test audiences either agree or disagree with how a film is made, and it can effect how the final film is made and sent out to the public.  Inspiration: I found a article about movies that where changed due to test audiences. https://www.mentalfloss.com/article/64467/11-movies-changed-because-test-audiences Goodfellas: It ...

This film is definitely one of my favorite projects I've worked on. There are still a few things I could have changed, but every film will have its flaws. This film is the sequel to my first film The Modern Ladies of History , and this film is called Into the future . This film was a lot of fun to do since I got to also spend a weekend with my cousins, Mikayla and Natalie. They both where a big help with this film and I really appreciate their help. There are a few times where the audio is not the best due to the wind or other noises that where hard to eliminate. Other than that the film looks really good. I hope you enjoy the film!

Introduction: For this weeks blog post to start off Black History Month I decided to do the evolution of black actors in films. In earlier films black actors are mostly given roles as someone who works for the white protagonists or very small other minor roles. One of the most notable moments in film, of this example, would be Gone With the Wind with Hattie McDaniel where she won her an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, and was the first African American actress to win an Academy Award. There is so many black actors that made history regardless of how the black entertainment industry was treated. Here are some of the many amazing actors that made history within film and for the world. Inspiration: Here is the article I found for this information. Cicely Tyson- The first Black person to star in a prime-time drama in the ’60s, Tyson has made history numerous times with her acting performances and her ability to break records and pave the way for Black women in entertainment. In 2018,...
