Introduction: This weeks blog post is about tv shows as an extension of films. Sometimes our favorite movies series get remade but other become tv shows. This happens to a lot of famous series since fans want to see more of the series, and a tv show can give fans more content. Tv shows can also help give more characters more screen time or backstories to certain events in the movies. Or an extension of the films to tell more of the story from the last movie in the series. Or a movie or movies that was supposed to be a series being made into a tv series. Tv series are a way to tell a story with more then just one video, but many to bring more connect to viewers. 



Inspirations: I looked up movies that are being made into tv shows

Here are some tv shows that have already been made from movies like:


  • "Marvel's Agent Carter" was based on Peggy Carter in Captain America

  • "The Exorcist" was based of the movies

  • "Scream: The TV Series" Is based of the movie series Scream

  • "10 Things I Hate About You" is based on the movie 

  • "Bates Motel" is based on P

  • "Rosemary’s Baby" is based of the movie

  • “His Dark Materials” is based of of the movie The Golden Compass (which was original supposed to be a movie series)


Brainstorming/Experimentation: There a lot of books and movies I would love to make into a tv show. The only thing with taking movies and making it into tv shows is that not all the content is the same as the movie. Sometimes it'll be an origin story or a whole different story entirely. Tv series are a very creative way to add more to the story itself instead of films jumping all over the place sometimes like the Halloween series. One of my favorite examples of  this is Bates Motel which is inspired by Hitchcock's film Psycho. It gives us more of a backstory to Normans behavior and why he is so attached to his mother. Also tv series based of movies that where originally books, can also explore more from the books and add more to the story's. Its a really fun way to have this giant story ark with a movie or movies and then having either a backstory or more to the story.


Reflection: Overall looking at these movies made or being made into a tv show it could give us more stories. The main thing I saw with the tv series are that a lot of horror movies are being made into a series since they are so popular. Most of the time popular movies are being made into tv shows. I would love to create a tv show based of some of my favorite books. Tv shows give you more creative freedom rather than a movie series. Creative freedom is what a lot of directors want and its hard to for that when its based of movies, but at the same time then it lets directors add more to the existing story.

Hugo Reflection Questions

In Hugo, Georges Méliès, who does not want to remember the part of his life where he created fantastic and magical worlds through films, states, “My life has taught me one lesson, Hugo Cabret, and not the one I thought it would. Happy endings only happen in the movies.” Why does Méliès say this? He says this because in his films he’s been able to live a fantasy life and love out his dreams, but in real life he is stuck in one place. He feels like he’s accomplished something so great but he’s not able to feel like what he did doesn't get him an own happy ending. He himself can’t live up to his own legacy and have his own happy ending to his own life  Why does he want to forget about the films he made? He wants to forget because he wants to live his own life and not live his life three his movies. Pre-Production Blog Post 4

  For my last film this year, I decided to make a film essay. I liked what Aaron decided to do so I thought I’d give it a try. I decided to do my film essay on the musical genres and film musicals. Since our performance for Cinderella is coming up next week I thought it would be a fun thing to work on something having to do with musicals. I mostly did the research funny enough at free times I had at practice. I thought it would be motivation for me to get my script done. I am worried about finding all the necessary clips I need, but that can easily be fixed with fewer examples. Below I have the introduction to the film essay introducing the topics. Above I then have my storyboard as an outline for how I will structure my video. I will be discussing the musical genre and then musicals in film.
