Introduction: For this week’s blog post I wanted to look into Broadway musicals made into movies, or vice versa. A lot of my favorite musicals have been made into movies or musicals have been inspired by movies. I've loved musicals ever since I was little I've never seen one live, but I love the movie versions of them because it makes me feel like I’m actually there. The genre of musicals in film is called Musical Film. Musical film is a film genre in which songs by the characters are interwoven into the narrative, sometimes accompanied by dancing. Its a really unique genre of film and definitely requires a lot of creativity, weather you bringing a stage musical onto the screen or creating your own musical for the big screen. Musical films usually contain elements of theater, and performers often treat their song and dance numbers as if a live audience were watching. Being on stage is just as stressful as being on camera and its such an amazing experience. During the 1940s a...

This is my storyboard, I just have a brief outline for each scene. I didn't have any location releases since most of the film is going to be shot outside or in a public place. I might not be able to do one scene depending on whether I can make it to the renaissance faire, but even if we can't I'm sure we can get creative. I wanted to use the outside scenery the most in this film since a lot of these places would most likely be outside. It would also be more difficult to film in places because of what's going on. I also watched to incorporate historical tings without exactly having to film inside. It could also give the film amazing view of the outside scenery. For music I was probably going to have light piano and I was going to use some actual clips from women's suffrage movements, I don't know if its going to work, but I'm going to do my best. This is my script, I had a lot of fun writing it and I'm excited to be able to work on a film with my best fri...

Introduction:   For this week's blog post I wanted to look into Special effects without computer graphics. Before digital effects where used film makers had to be very creative with how special effects were made and created. I was inspired to look into this after watching Hugo again for the end of the school year last year. It inspired me how  created and made his special effects for his films. Today we see a lot of CGI used in movies and a good amount of practical effects are still used too and both do look advanced and very real. While looking into how special effects it definitely is an art how they were able to create them. Inspiration: (I researched how movies used to be made and here are some of the cool facts I found) The first special effect was in a 1895 Edison Film, when Alfred Clark recreated the beheading of Mary, Queen of Scots. When he did have all the actors hold completely still, with the exception of the actress playing Mary, while he paused the camera...

Introduction:   For todays blog post I wanted to look at the history of silent movies. When we watched Metropolis in class in 9th grade I was very intrigued by the concept of silent movies. You would walk into a theatre and you would watch the movie and a pianist would play the soundtrack but the movie you would have to read the titles through the movie. That was peoples movies then. The first ever talkie movie was The Jazz Singer it stared Al Jolson and it was a blackface, offensive, and very racist film, but people then where mesmerized by it. The film came out in 1927, after that the 1930s became an even more popular time for the entertainment industry. Many popular movies came out during the decade after too including; The Wizard of OZ, Gone with the Wind, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs . Each where unique films with The Wizard of Oz using color and black in white, Gone with the Wind was the first color film, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was the first full length a...

Brainstorming/Introduction: For this blog post I want to look into the art of history captured in film. History that happened in real life, history that's been made up. In this investigation I am going to look at movies and the directors that brought these worlds to life and into the film world. Looking into the different ways that directors and creators have brought history to life through film. Viewing these different techniques will give inspiration for others to create history films of their own. Fantasy or real life history.  ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  Inspiration Artists:  The first film series I looked at was The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit series. These two series tell the story of J.R.R.Tolkien , and tell us the history of the hobbits, elves, man, dwarfs, and the journeys that have to take to defeat the danger that seeks to destroy their home. The directors of these series collecti...

To start of my investigation for my film I started of by writing down time periods I wanted to take inspiration from, art pieces I liked, and places I could film. My idea is to have a pair of friends to be brought back in time to different situations in which they learn how each place women had to act and dress. The places that would be visited is time periods like ancient times, Victorian and more. The places could change depending on the costuming I have or how many people I could get to be in the film. Due to the limitations of Covid I will be making these time periods more fantasy so that way if it cant be exactly like a certain decade then modern things could be in that place. The film could be a group of women dressed in period pieces while in the modern to or in each time period themselves. The film will use time travel as a method to show these different time pieces or just a showing of examples in history.  Artist Inspiration: An artist I was inspired by is George Fredric ...
