Themes In Conceptual Film: Politics and The Social Order
People are usually under the impression that they have to act a certain way. Along with thinking they have to dress and look a certain way. From a young age social media affects teens to make them feel like they have to be this way. Politics also affect this with people body shaming women and men. Also depending on your social class you're more likely to be told to act a certain way. When looking at politics you have to answer questions like, who is going to be in charge? What freedoms will there be? and many more. There are many ways you could portray politics and the social order. You could use propaganda in art and how people are encouraged to act a certain way or shows how and event actually or didn't happen. You could look at the events that have happened and take the idea of it and create a film out of it. In the text it talks about World War II and the Spanish Civil War and how propaganda was used during that time. With the social order in history there was also divides in society, the leaders, the people etc. In Barbra Kruger’s art untitled We Will No Longer Be Seen But Heard it shows that “if women are denied a Boyce within the current social order, they will find a way to make themselves understood.” (Themes in Art) it shows that in that current society everyone should have a voice in the current social order. Or in Picasso’s Guernica how it shows the events of the Spain’s Civil war. You could take these prices of art and create a film out of it you could use a similar timeline, not the events exactly but the idea. In politics also you could take differ events or pieces of art to show your concept like with the Egyptian pyramids it reflected the power of the Pharaohs and could reflect the people’s beliefs and grant the people’s rulers the power.
